AGM report 2008
MORTIMER CLASSIC MOTORCYCLE CLUB LIMITED
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
Wednesday 26th November 2008
At Englefield Social Club
Start 8.00pm 37 Members present
1. Apologies Mike Smith, J Kent
2. Minutes of the last annual general meeting were agreed as printed in the newsletter
3. Reports for 2008.
The Chairman thanked all who made 2008 a successful year. The Jack Englefield trial had been very good. The 100-mile scramble was fantastic, September scramble was a great challenge but turned into a great meeting. The temptation to cancel due to weather was there but the decision to go ahead was the right one eventually. The October meeting was even wetter, the night before and during the racing but we got through the part of the programme which was essential. Special thanks are due to the marshals who stood out during diabolical conditions.
Problems had been encountered with our partners who also use the land at Bennetts Hill, but these had been resolved satisfactorily.
4. The Secretary stated that all was well with the club and thanked the ladies for the lap scoring and also the food throughout the year. He expressed special thanks to the outgoing officers and presentations were made to Gerry Allen and Andy Warwick. The extended licence for use of the track runs to 30”’ June 2015.
5. The Treasurer produced accounts for the financial year to the end of March. Three good scrambles and several trials had been held and the balance stood at £6660. Our accountant found this to be satisfactory and the club agreed to continue as his client.
6. Comps Secretary thanked all who helped at the track, Mike Smith, Mark Bosher and Geoff Knibbs and also the Smith family for their work prior to and during the trials. Thanks also to Prim and her team for the refreshments and the lap-scorers.
7. Trials Secretary confirmed a good year. Many thanks to Bryan Smith and family and friends, Mike Smith and Jenny. There had been 6 fun trials, five of which had more than 20 entries. The Jack Englefield Trial was successful with 35 entries. It was hoped that we could drum up more entries and that a few more old trials bikes would be brought out for the occasion. The change of date to February for the next one should improve matters. Andy Warwick was passing the mantle of trials secretary to a new one and wished him good luck.
8. The Membership Secretary reported we had 165 members.
9. A good range of Awards had been presented at scrambles during the year.
10. On the social side, discos had been held at Bennetts Hill and a successful dinner at the Calcot.
11. The Newsletter had appeared throughout the year, but Mike Smith still would like more articles from members. Mike would like to stand down from this post but was willing to carry on if nobody else was willing.
12. Most officers agreed to serve again for another year, as listed below, except for the competitions chairman, Mark Bosher as general secretary and the trials secretary. The Chairman stepped down and handed over to club President, Mark Bosher for the re-election of our Chairman John Stocker.
13. A presentation was made to Andy Warwick of his stewardship badge and Mark Bosher presented Gerry Allen with a model red tractor to mark the occasion of his standing down as Competitions Chairman but was pleased to hear that Gerry will continue to work for the club.
